Atlanta Section 8 Payment Standards Lookup Tool (Updated 2026 )
Looking for Section 8 payment standards in Atlanta? This tool helps you estimate the maximum Housing Choice Voucher amount allowed for your property based on location and unit size within the City of Atlanta.
For properties within the City of Atlanta Housing Authority jurisdiction (Fulton & DeKalb County). Enter an address to check the maximum voucher payment standard.
This tool shows the maximum Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) payment allowed for your property in the City of Atlanta. This is not the guaranteed rent — actual rent depends on tenant income, utilities, and market conditions.
What This Number Actually Means for Atlanta Landlords
- Payment standard = ceiling: This is the maximum the housing authority will pay, not the rent you'll necessarily receive.
- Tenant pays ~30% of income: The tenant's portion is roughly 30% of their adjusted monthly income. The authority covers the difference (up to the payment standard).
- Rent must still pass "rent reasonableness": Even if you're under the payment standard, the rent must be comparable to similar unassisted units in the area.
In some Atlanta zip codes, voucher payment standards are at or near market rent — making them a viable leasing strategy during slower periods, not just a fallback option.
How this works: Your address is matched to a U.S. Census tract via the Census Bureau's public geocoding service, then cross-referenced against Atlanta Housing Authority's published payment standard table by submarket.
⚠️ This tool only applies to properties within the City of Atlanta. Payment standards differ in surrounding counties like Clayton, DeKalb, and Cobb. Addresses outside the City of Atlanta Housing Authority's jurisdiction (including many suburban Fulton, Cobb, Clayton, and DeKalb addresses served by county or other housing authorities) will not return a match.
